Three top ways to get distance from emotional pain


Strong negative emotions, such as those in depression, anxiety, stress and panic create a psychic gravitational pull that sucks you closer and closer into the problem. When you feel so close it's all you can see then it seems much larger than it is. Your emotional pain goes up and your ability to cope goes down.

I call this swimming in a pool of distress.
