The approach we use at Dr Purves can seem a little different to the approaches used in other programs. Dr Purves spent almost 5 years as a serious student of the work of G.I Gurdjieff. And has spent nearly 30 years doing mindfulness practices. His approach to mindfulness is firmly rooted in the proposition that are lives are running on automatic pilot a lot of the time. This means that we are almost always unconscious of the effect of others interactions with us and our interactions with others. When things get tough this can feel a lot like helplessness.
